After the success of Huawei Mate 7 last year, the company is getting ready to release its younger (yet mightier) sibling – the Huawei Mate 8. The phone was officially announced on Thanksgiving, and it is expected to hit the stores in the beginning of 2016. Let’s check out what can you expect from this phone!
The Huawei Mate 8 can be put in the category of phablets, having a 6” screen with a pixel density of 368 PPI. The phone (or phablet if you will) has an impressive screen-to-body ration of 78%. Yet it must be said that the pixel density is somewhat lower than what we are used to these days.
The Mate 8 comes with an octa-core processor – the HiSilicon Kirin 950, and has variants with 3 or 4 GB of RAM.
When it comes to the camera quality, the back camera is a 16-megapixel dual LED camera. The front, or the selfie camera if you prefer is an 8-megapixel camera, which is more than decent.
What really caught my eye is the Li-Po 4000 mAh battery. It is powerful battery indeed, but please note that we are talking about a 6” phone. The bigger the phone, the more battery it needs.

One thing is for sure, it is too early to give this phone a rating or to talk about overall performance. But as things are looking, we might be getting something really awesome in a short period of time. What we know for sure is that the Huawei Mate 8 will come in three variants with different prices: 3GB RAM/32GB storage at 2999 CNY, or approximately $470, 4GB RAM/64GB storage at 3699 CNY or $580, and 3GB RAM/128GB storage at 4399 CNY or $690.
