One of the most popular (if not THE most popular) features that rocked the smartphone market last year and continue to do so was the fingerprint scanner. As we noticed in 2015, more and more phones started to get this feature, mostly because, well – it is cool! The Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 compact originally featured the fingerprint scanner, but as official statements from the company say, the US versions of these phones will not feature the popular fingerprint scanner.
To be honest, we have “reasons unknown” case here. What Sony said in their annunciation is that they removed the fingerprint scanner from the US versions of the Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 compact for solely “business reasons”. What they mean by this, we really cannot guess. It is clear that Sony really struggled on the US market with the low success of the Sony Xperia Z4 models. A logical thing to do would be to give users what they like, and people definitely like the fingerprint scanner.
Sony’s flagship phone will hit the stores in the United States next month. Until then, we expect to see some logical explanation from Sony about this decision.
