Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S7: and the crown goes to?
The Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy s7 are two of the best phones that were unveiled at MWC, and we can honestly say that for now, one of these phones will take the crown of the Android market.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro makes a revolution when it comes to build quality and materials used to build a phone. It is housed in the latest ceramic technology that is extremely though and hard, and it looks like it will last forever. The edges on the 3D ceramic back on the Mi 5 Pro are nice and rounded, so the phone is very easy to hold.
The home button of the Mi 5 Pro features a fingerprint scanner too.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 is a looker, that’s for sure. Both of the sides are protected by the latest Gorilla Glass 4, and like its predecessor, it’s made from aluminum. The finish is smooth and elegant.
We can’t decide which of the phones looks better, either Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro with its new ceramic back, or the classic and elegant Samsung Galaxy S7, but one thing for sure, you won’t be disappointed with the build quality of any of those.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro comes with a 5.15 inch IPS 1080p display (yes, we are surprised that we don’t get QHD display too), which takes almost all of the front part of the phone. But, the sunlight legibility is really good, and it comes with 16 LED backlights to make it even brighter when put on the sun.
The Samsung Galaxy s7 comes with a 5.1 inch QHD AMOLED display, and it is so crisp that pushes the limits of the human’s eye.
When it comes to performance, the Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro is the king of the most popular benchmark, Antutu, with having scored 142, 100 points. It comes with the latest of Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 820 and it has 4 GB of RAM. The Samsung Galaxy S7 comes with the same processor for some markets, but there is another choice, the one powered by their own Exynos 8890 chipset, which is similarly one of the fastest mobile processors to date.
Both phones come with the same 3000 mAh battery, and both of the companies say that the batteries can be charged within 2 hours from 0 to 100%, which is made available with the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow (which is used by both phones, only that the Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro comes with their own MIUI 7 preinstalled).
The camera on the Mi 5 Pro is a 16 megapixel shooter made by Sony, which comes with a revolutionary 4-axis optical image stabilization system, which helps the system make very clear pictures.
On the other hand, the Galaxy S7 comes with a main camera of 12 megapixels and an f/1.7 aperture lens, and it can even shoot 4k videos in slow motion. Both of the cameras on these phones are very good and competitive.
Even though the Samsung Galaxy S7 is a very powerful, elegant phone, and arguable the more popular of the two, the Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro is coming at the door and it is doing it with quite large steps. It boosts a new revolutionary design which in our opinion looks stunning, the hardware is very competitive and even though it has only 1080p display, it is still very sharp and the color reproduction is first class. When it comes to features, these two phones end up very similarly and it is a matter of personal preference which one should you choose. Of course, if you are ready to spend 100-200$ extra on the Samsung.
